Some workers find it very distressing delivering difficult news and may also lack the skills to deliver the news in a clear and respectful manner.

This training will help workers learn the skills necessary to deliver difficult news in a clear, direct, respectful and efficent manner.  It will also address important worker well-being issues associated with regularly delivering difficult news.

 The eWorkshop will cover:

•       Safety considerations when delivering difficult news face-to-face

•       Communication skills

•       Guidelines on how to structure a conversation when delivering difficult news

•       Words to avoid when delivering difficult news

•       Delivering difficult news to a group

•       Supporting the persons or persons who are the recipient of the news including making referrals

•       Important worker well being issues and how to manage them

 The eWorkshop will be highly interactive and the participants will be encouraged to ask questions at any time. Participants will be assisted to develop a plan for what to say and how to say it, depending upon the type of difficult news they will be delivering.

 Detailed notes will be provided.

When: Thursday, 25th September 2025 from 9:30am to 12.30pm.(AEST)

Where: Online eWorkshop via Zoom. If payment has been received, you will receive the Zoom details in the week prior to the eWorkshop .

Cost: The early bird booking is $195.00 (GST incl) if registered before 11th September 2025, after the 11th September the Full Price is $250.00 (GST incl). Payment is required before attending the eWorkshop.

To register: Register and complete payment. A Tax Invoice will be emailed to you. The payment needs to be completed before the workshop occurs, for the registration to be fully confirmed.

Facilitator: The training will be run by David Cherry, a Clinical and Forensic Psychologist who has been working for 45 years.  David worked as a Family Court Counsellor and in out of home care for 14 years.  In both those positions he frequently had to deliver difficult news to individuals and groups.  More recently, David has been running training for staff in local and state government, people who work with the homeless as well as workers in a broad range of service professions on delivering difficult news.
